Green fingers

I miss my garden in England. I should clarify, I do mean my garden, the one that I worked hard on. I never really found time to sort Simon's garden out. I managed to get him to take me to a garden centre on Sunday and I had a field day! Firstly, there are numerous plants that can grow here because of the climate, so it was hard to see where houseplants ended and outdoor plants began. Secondly, things were cheaper than I expected and lastly, but most importantly Simon seemed to be saying yes a lot.

I have now begun to fill the balcony with pretty things and I have such grand plans. I also have a lemon tree that has a real lemon on it. So excited!!!!!

I smuggled some packets of seeds back from the Uk has small sunflower seedlings on their way, plus others. It will be a delectable feast for the eyes soon.

Wedding invites

We have been to Milan today to pick up the wedding invites. I can't believe that it is only 4 months away now. Simon is sick with Shingles and I have become obsessed with knitting. I just find it so relaxing. I'm sure that if I put the same energy into learning Italian I'd be fluent right now!
Off out tonight to a friends for dinner - authentic Italian food and great company. What more could a girl want?

Knitting update..my latest creations

I'm still learning so be gentle with your laughter. I am now practicing on small baby style clothes as they are quicker and cheaper.

St Valentines

I am so lucky. My wonderful hubby to be took me to the Terme in Sirmione for Valentines Day. This place is on Lake Garda and is world renowned for its curative properties. To be honest though, I was just looking forward to a huge bath tub and a gentle swim. Two things that I miss a great deal from England.
It was paradise and as you can see from the picture very warm. It is quite strange to be swimming outside and be able to see people in their ski jackets, but pleasant nonetheless.

Spring snow

Well last week we had the sun glasses out and the light spring jackets. Today it has snowed all day long and once again Verona is covered in a blanket of snow. Good job that I've got lots of wool to make warm things!!

Sadness

I haven't written a blog entry for quite a while now. When I started writing this blog it was for a particular audience of friends and family, but strangely it seems to be an entirely different group of people that read it. One of the only people that used to moan about me not updating it was my Granddad Jim. I wrote about his visit earlier in the year. Well sadly and totally unexpectedly, he passed away on January 6th and I've not really known what to write since. I know that he wasn't the only person that read this, but most of the time he was the only person who did so and then emailed me afterwards.
So I've decided to revise the blog a bit. He might not have taken his computer with him to wherever it is that we all go, but I'm certain that he can still read this so from now on I'll be writing to him. The rest of you can still read it, but it'll be Jim' blog really.

Knitting

I have developed a new hobby. It started in the summer really when I learnt to knit again. I have always wanted to be able to knit things but I've never really known the basics. With alot of help (thanks Lesley) I successfully made a baby jumper. More recently I've been trying out new patterns on my own. Very simple to start with and getting more complex. I made two scarves and a pair of slippers as Xmas gifts and now I am planning on making an adult jumper. I think that might be a long project that might cause alot of frustration.

I spent this Christmas knitting hats for everyone and I even made a hot water bottle cover out of left over wool. Dad bought me the knitometer (with is in reverse in the picture) from an antique shop to help me remember what row I am on etc.
